Beard & Bardot: Abbotsford’s Salon
The Rail District is a master-planned community located in Abbotsford’s Historic Downtown, rich with local history and urban excitement. Not only home to residents: the Rail District will be a hub for local businesses to thrive and grow. Abby-grown salon Beard & Bardot are relocating to the Rail District this Fall. With their team of talented stylists, they’ve got you covered: haircuts, colouring services, makeup application, and even medical-grade skincare treatments! Whether the occasion is special – like a wedding or graduation – or an ordinary day spent in Downtown Abby, Beard & Bardot will cater to your needs. Jordana Patterson, B&B’s owner, and senior stylist shares below why she chose to move to The Rail District.
How It All Started
Beard & Bardot came about in a quick, unexpected manner over the course of 2014’s Canada Day long weekend. When the opportunity to rent a newly vacant space fell into Jordana’s lap, she took the plunge, and over 3 days, 100 coats of white paint, and many light fixtures, Beard & Bardot was born! There were virtually no plans for the future of the business – not even a name for the salon – except for a desire and determination to make a beautiful space for artists to create and clients to receive quality service and care. It’s safe to say that this mission was achieved with Beard & Bardot becoming one of Abbotsford’s most beloved salons.
What Makes B&B Special?
Beard & Bardot isn’t just a hair salon, or even a one-stop shop for your styling needs. It’s a relationally focused, warm space intended for the facilitation of community. Jordana shared what makes her team unique is their “collective passion about our craft,” as well as “the relationships with our clients that we develop and nurture. That’s what makes us different.” The Beard & Bardot team aren’t only interested in doing their jobs well, they’re looking to form lasting relationships with their clients and build a genuine community around their business. Jordana cherishes getting to create “beautiful hair that fits people’s lives and personal styles,” as well as the opportunity to make “a safe, creative, supportive space for my staff and clients.” She shared that her favorite thing about her job is being “immersed in an industry that fulfills me to the core of who I am”.
The Beard & Bardot Experience
B&B take pride in being welcoming and responsible in all they do – through their product choices, as well as their day-to-day ethical business practices. In Jordana’s words, “that is what drives us.” As a brand, it’s important to the B&B team to be mindful, conscientious, and responsible in all their decisions and choices. Jordana shared that her clients value the tangible sense of warmth and community, “investing in my staff just as much as my staff invest in them.”
“It’s not just about getting your hair, or another service done – we want it to be more than that. We are so grateful for our clients, and thus another reason for our move and upgrade – they deserve it.”
Why Choose the Rail District?
From the beginning of her career as a stylist, Jordana has worked in Downtown Abby, specifically, Montrose Avenue. She sees it as “so fitting, and full circle” that she now can relocate to the Rail District, being able to stay close to her existing client base and reach many new clients. Jordana sees this move as an opportunity to accommodate more staff, clientele, and offer more services with the increased space – continuing Beard & Bardot’s legacy of serving as “Abbotsford’s salon.”
Looking Ahead
Beard & Bardot truly encapsulates the spirit of The Rail District, with their emphasis on building community, prioritizing quality, and strengthening relationships. Thoughtfully designed with community in mind, we are so excited for them to join our vibrant Rail District community.
